Our Nursery Department

Our nursery department is open year round, offering plants that provide interest in your garden in any of the four seasons.  From forsythias in early spring, through witchhazel in fall and winter, every time you visit you can see what could be happening in your yard.

Each fall we travel to local growers to hand select the best plants available.  We talk to the growers about the newest introductions and the latest rediscovered classics, and find out which ones really perform well in our areas.

Thanks to our close relationship with local growers, you will find our plants to be some of the freshest stock available.  Because we receive weekly shipments, we can order what you want if we don't have it.

Come be inspired by the wide variety of everyday and unusual plants we have for sale, or stroll through our display gardens to see what that plant will look like 5, 10, 15 years from now.

Perennials

Come in and see the color!  Our perennial department always has something in bloom.  Hellebores in winter to asters in fall, you will see the classics to the newest introductions.  We offer perennials in sizes from 3" pots to 10 gallon pots, great for squeezing into that last little patch of bare ground in your plant collector's garden or filling in space in your new home.

Trees

We pride ourselves in the diverse selection of trees available in our nursery.  You will find everyday and unusual plants in sizes from 4" pots (perfect for alpine trough planters) to 4" trunk size (perfect for alpine vacation homes).

Shrubs

From the classic early spring color of forsythia, to the latest varieties of winter blooming witchhazel, you will find everything you want in our shrubs.  Available in sizes from 4" pots up to 15 gallon pots, we can help you decorate a patio planter or your entire landscape.

Roses

Remember the roses that your mother or grandmother had?  She never did anything to them and they kept growing and blooming, and boy, didn't they smell great!

Sure, you've tried to grow roses, but you have to work so much harder at it.

Spray them, prune them, mulch them in the winter.  Then if you're lucky, half of them might survive.  Not anymore.

All of these are selected for their disease resistance and hardiness (less spraying and winter mulching).

Unusual Plants

We are "plant nerds", we can't help ourselves!  Every year we add countless additional plants to our offerings and as plant breeding becomes more sophisticated , we will be able to offer even more new selections in the future.

Our plant catalog lists a portion of the plant selections we set out to offer this season.  Please realize that while we attempt to fulfill our listing to 100%, due to the perishable nature of "green products", crop failures are an unfortunate certainty in some cases.  Please use our catalog with this in mind.

Christmas Trees

Activity does not stop in the nursery in November!

Now we are preparing for the Christmas season.  In July we travel to Christmas tree farms to hand select some of the best Christmas trees available.  Whether you are looking for that small table top tree or that 14' atrium centerpiece, we have your tree.  Classically tapered to elegant Victorian style, our cut Christmas trees are the perfect complement to your decorating style.

We are also proud to offer free local delivery and setup of any tree for a non-perishable food donation which goes to the local food bank.  Each year our efforts, and your donations, make this program grow.
