KIDS VEGGIE FAIR

Do you have the fattest tomatoes?  Do you have the most perfect squash?  How about the biggest sunflower?  All kids are encouraged to bring in the best of their harvest for the Lowe’s Greenhouse Veggie Fair.  The Lowe’s staff and customers will judge the best but every participant will win a prize.  Judging will take place on Saturday, Sept. 6th at noon.  Entering is easy…simply drop off your produce and fill out a fair admission form and you’re in.

CREATING STONE GARDEN TROUGHS

Put on your work clothes and learn how to create alpine trough planters. Every participant will create a trough planter that is suitable for year-round miniature garden plantings.  Come back in 2 weeks to plant your new trough. Young and old alike are encouraged to join the fun.  Class size is limited so sign up today.

MINIATURE PLANT KINGDOM…PLANTING MINIATURE ALPINE GARDENS 

How do you create a wonderful miniature garden that can be enjoyed for years to come?  Join us as we first learn the techniques and discuss the plants to be used in alpine planters.  Then, all participants will have the opportunity to plant a garden of their own.  Bring your alpine planter if you have one or we will have some available for purchase.  Class size is limited so sign up today.

Today we will be mixing together something delicious, something nutritious and something else that will just plain make you feel better.  Every participant will learn 4 new recipes and then make their own herbal blends to take and use at home.

PUTTING THE GARDEN TO BED… PREPARING YOUR GARDENS FOR WINTERS WRATH

What did Mom always say???  “An ounce of prevention”… today we will discuss 10 easy and effective ways to provide protection for your landscaping and to get your gardens off to a good start next year.  Lawns, perennials, trees, shrubs, perennial and vegetable gardens will be covered in this class specifically suited to the beginner gardener.

MAKING A TROPICAL PLANT CONTAINER GARDEN

Winter is on its way and as we move indoors so must our gardening.  Today we will be making tropical plant gardens that will bring some greenery into our homes.  We will discuss the plant options best suited to indoor gardening and the care required to keep them growing well.  Then, all participants will create a garden of their own in decorative containers.  Young and old alike are encouraged to join us to learn a little but mostly just have fun playing in the dirt.

LIVING HERBAL WREATH… MAKE IT, THEN TAKE IT

The season of entertaining is approaching and today we will be making decorations that will grace any table setting.  Impress your family and friends when you tell them you created the aromatic wreath that is the centerpiece on the holiday table.  First we will demonstrate the techniques and discuss the materials used then every participant will make their own to take home.

WINTER CONTAINER GARDENING DEMONSTRATION… WHY STOP THE SHOW?

Winter is our longest season so why should we give up on container gardening… we shouldn’t!  We need to have beautiful pots year-round and I know we can do better than those annoying evergreen cones, can’t we?  We will look at alternative materials, different methods of composition and plants that may adorn potted winter gardens.  Once you know haw easy it is you will be ready to create on your own or bring your containers in and work on them here with the help of our instructors.
